Abstract

Drawing on an axiom extracted from the works of Alfonso Pérez Agote, I reflect on the fundamentals of the craft of sociology in this paper. According to this, the essential role of the sociologist relies on approaching the social representations of reality made by the actors who live in it without defining it a priori. This premise is subject to scrutiny using certain contemporary poststructuralist traditions in order to be nuanced, without renouncing to its validity as a fundament that should rule the craft of sociology.
