Abstract

Students who are in university at the end of their studies will enter the labour market and have to explore different options. Each option has its own peculiarities, but those who enter work also have their own work values. The purpose of this study is to identify the work values of the new generation of business and economics students. To this end, the working values of 600 students were analysed. The results show that Economics and Business students are mainly guided by external motivations or extrinsic working values and seek a balance between work and life. The scarcity of studies on Generation Z and the lack of consensus on the results lend significance to analyzing potential professionals’ work values. This implies that firms must constantly adapt their recruitment and retention strategies to the work values of new generations to avoid the shortage of potential professionals due to high turnover.
