ANÁLISIS DE LA RENTABILIDAD DEL SUBSECTOR ATUNERO CONGELADOR ESPAÑOL. PROFITABILITY ANALYSIS OF THE SPANISH PURSE SEINE INDUSTRY

Resumen

[ES] El presente artículo analiza la rentabilidad del subsector atunero congelador nacional, una actividad poco conocida entre nosotros, pero de extrema relevancia mundial. Para el logro del objetivo marcado comenzaremos con la presentación de este subsector, para lo cual, realizaremos una breve síntesis histórica sobre el surgimiento del mismo, a la vez de ofrecer algunos datos sobre número de barcos y capturas llamativas. Finalmente, se analiza la rentabilidad, tanto financiera como económica y se compara los resultados obtenidos con la rentabilidad mínima exigida por los propietarios e inversores, por una parte, y los gestores y gerentes, por otra.

[EN] This paper analyzes the profitability of the freezer tuna subsector in Spain. This is an activity little known, but with an extreme world relevancy. For that aim, first at all we will begin with the presentation of this subsector via a brief historical synthesis about its born and development. Some recent information about the number of boats and quantity of showy captures is setting out below. Finally, the paper analyzes the financial and economic profitability, and compares the results obtained with the minimal profitability demanded by owners and investors, on one hand, and the managers, for other one.
