Abstract

The historical importance of the murders of clergymen in the Second Republic for anticlerical reasons has meant that historiography has not dealt with the crimes of clergymen committed without political motivation or anti-religious sentiment. We analyse the murder committed by José Marturet, who killed the parish priest of Erice, Jose María Razquin, in May 1933, after a bitter argument, because he had been unsuccessfully claiming wages from him.
