Abstract
The Fourierist group formed in Cadiz around Joaquín Abreu was one of the pioneers of utopian socialism. In 1841, this group planned to build a phalanstery following the instructions of Charles Fourier, which would have been the first in the world. Under the direction of Manuel Sagrario de Beloy, they chose as the site for this model community, which was to open a new era for mankind, a site near Jerez de la Frontera, which met all the conditions envisaged by Fourier. The evaluation of that project, which ultimately failed, allows us to reflect on the "good place" proposed by the societal utopia.
