About the Journal
Introduction
InpAkta is a scientific journal founded in 2023. InpAkta is a scientific journal that will collect evidence-based research works in Basque or English and accept contributions from five major areas of knowledge: natural sciences, health sciences, social sciences, territorial planning and technology. It will seek to contribute to the challenges of our territory and work on issues that have a social impact on them (for more details see https://www.inpakta.eus/inpaktu-soziala/).
Research works shall have a social impact if they make a certain contribution to society, culture, the environment or the economy, or if they have the capacity or strength to do so. The authors of the articles must mention in the cover letter sent to the publisher the impact that their investigation may or has already had.
Review procedure
InpAkta is a peer-reviewed journal. In order to comply with good practices, external evaluators, anonymous and double, will review the articles by field of knowledge, applying the criteria of scientific relevance of the article, social impact, originality, clarity and suitability of the work presented. Based on the evaluation of the research work, the editor of the area will make the final decision for publication.
In order to ensure that the double blind review procedure is followed, the author must remain anonymous to the evaluators. The author is responsible for ensuring the anonymity of the manuscript and that of the associated contributors (see section Guide to Authors). The author's names, affiliations, and any other information which may be identifiable must therefore be removed from the manuscript text, or from any attached file (such as, for example, images of auxiliary materials).
Along with the article, the author may propose potential revisors. To do this, the publisher must be provided with the names, surnames, affiliation and e-mail address of such potential reviewers. The authors may also provide a list of persons they do not wish to have as reviewers.
Periodicity of publication
InpAkta will publish two copies annually from 2025, but once the papers are approved they will be available to the community online, without having to wait for the full number to be published. The Call for Papers to send manuscripts will open on March 21, 2024.
Open access policy

This means that they will be available free of charge on the Internet, allowing any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of our articles, index, transfer them to software as data or use them for any other legitimate purpose, regardless of the economic, legal or technical obstacles to Internet access. The only limitation of reproduction and distribution, and the sole function of copyright, should be to control the integrity of the work and the right of authors to be duly recognized and mentioned.
No cost.
InpAkta has no article or procedural costs.
Authorship and contributions
Authorship must be limited to those who have contributed significantly to the work. In addition, if the authorship is shared, the authors must confirm the full consent of all the authors concerned and that it has not been previously presented or published in any other media. All authors are responsible for every published article, and all authors, before sending the manuscript, must review, discuss, and agree on their individual contributions.
It is recommended to use the CRediT system (https://credit.niso.org /) to describe individual authors' contributions.
Editorial ethics. Plagiarism and originality of data
The InpAkta journal takes as a reference the code of conduct and good practice defined by the Editorial Ethics Committee for scientific journals and its Editorial Board undertakes the compromise to publish corrections, explanations and apologies where necessary.
Authors must meet high standards of good publishing practices. The falsification or manufacture of data, plagiarism, including the duplicate publication of the authors' work, without proper mention, or the misappropriation of any work, are unacceptable practices.
Manuscripts sent to the InpAkta journal can be investigated with anti-plagiarism software to detect and prevent plagiarism. In any event, the authors shall ensure that the article and related materials are original and do not violate copyright. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited, and texts which are considered plagiarism or whose contents are considered fraudulent, shall therefore be deleted from the journal regardless of whether they have been published or not.
If the original data cannot be displayed or created, the manuscript may be rejected. If the data is intentionally falsified, the article shall be discarded and communicated to the author's original institution or funding agency.
It is also necessary to indicate the use of artificial intelligence software (AI). The authors are solely responsible for the results produced by AI and are required to verify them accurately.
Material and data availability policy
InpAkta requires all authors, to the extent that it is ethically possible, and as a condition for publication, to make public all the data contained in their articles. In articles containing data, authors must submit a Data Availability Statement detailing data sharing plans (including all data, special materials, documentation and the code used in the analysis). Requests for exemption shall be included when submitting the manuscript, in the cover letter sent to InpAkta.
Authors are advised to select a repository that emits DOIs, which helps to facilitate a permanent connection between the research article and the dataset.
InpAkta encourages authors to submit their studies and analytical plans in advance, by displaying the link to the pre-registered records during submission.
Preprinting and self-archiving policy
When the editor of the relevant area of the InpAkta journal decides to publish a manuscript, the authors must update any pre-printing status, including DOI.
Versions of the work can be archived on websites, institutional websites or other stores, under CC BY 4.0 license.
Privacy Policy
The InpAkta journal shall at all times ensure the confidentiality of the evaluation process, the anonymity of evaluators and authors, the content evaluated, the reasoned report of evaluators and, where appropriate, any other communication issued by the Editorial Board. The confidentiality of explanations, claims or complaints made by any author to the journal's Editorial Board or to the evaluators of the article shall also be maintained. The InpAkta journal expresses its commitment to the respect and integrity of the works already published.
