Abstract

The work-life balance of workers has been on the agenda of many legislators for a long time. How is time divided between these two areas? What rights must workers be given so that they can devote part of their working day to their families? May regulations have been issued to solve this complex problem. There is great imbalance between men and women when it comes to sharing family and work-related responsibilities and this will be our main point of view. As well as the laws, collective bargaining agreements play a significant role in the regulation of this issue in the labour world. The two authors of this article are members of a research group that has analysed the regulation of the framework agreements in the Basque Country from a gender-related viewpoint. This research was commissioned by the Basque Government's Ombudsman for Equality between Men and Women. Therefore, this article analyses and assesses the regularisation found in the Basque Country framework agreements. The first part of this work analyses the main regulations offered by law. The second analyses and assesses the collective framework agreements of the Basque Country to provide a work-life balance beyond the contents of those regulations.
