Abstract

This article aims to present the situation within the teaching body in the province of Gipuzkoa from the time when Franco came to power. To be able to carry out this research we first of all had to put the general situation from the end of the Civil War into context within the province of Gipuzkoa and then we turned to the Teaching Statistics Annuals, documents which compile the different models for teaching staff in Primary Education also showing where they were born, to analyse the process of bringing more women and immigrants into Primary classrooms in this province. This also required a visit to the archives of the Teacher Training School and the Gipuzkoa Education Delegation.
