Abstract

In this article some characteristics of the Basque Education System are analysed, in particular those characteristics which cause the Basque Education System to be considered as an outlier. The starting point of this article are the obstacles that the Department of Education, Culture and Sport place for the knowledge and administration of the figures: the Minister herself has prohibited that any article about the situation in the Spanish Education System be distributed. With regard to the situation in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV), the following characteristics may be mentioned: the Educational System is regulated by a law resulting from a consensus between political parties, the funds destined for the financing of the Education System are far superior to those destined for other Autonomous Communities and lastly, the CAV has made a clear choice in favour of the LOGSE, prioritising the principles of participation, autonomy of the centres, equality and quality.
