Abstract

What do we want to signify when saying that we are facing a "Spanish" or "Mexican" film in the globalized world of multinational productions? This text try to show how a close reading  of the textual and cinematic elements can offer some insights in this complex field problems. The case study choose the Spanish-mexican co-production El laberinto del fauno (Guillermo del Toro, 2006) in order to explain the specific semiotics procedures which make a film to grow and be rooted in a particular cultural ground.
