Abstract

El sopar (1974) and Informe general (1976), two films from Pere Portabella, happen to appear in a moment of change which substantial features can be traced through an analysis of the speech where some of the questions that marked that period converge: the long shadow of the Francoism over an uncertain present, the search for consensus or the construction of a democratic future. The ex-prisoners of El sopar, who debate about the anti-francoist fight in a confinement environment, are confronted with the coming out to the outside world of Informe general, that gives voice to a wide variety of political positions.
