Abstract

TV series from the United States of America are an excellent object of study to reflect on the construction, representation and projection of the social subjects. Using post-feminist theories and concepts to consider the portrayal of female subjects, this article offers an analysis of the female characters of Breaking Bad. The methodology draws from concepts from Audiovisual Narrative and Gender Studies, and the discussion of the results is organized around three main core points that shape the construction of femininity in this show: maternity, sexuality and field of action.
