Abstract
The indefinition of the rules used by the cinematographic censorship under Franco´s regime in order to judge films became a serious obstacle for professional´s work in Spanish cinema. Nevertheless, that indefinition also allowed the incomprehensible public exhibition of certain unusual titles. That´s the case of Fedra (1956) by Manuel Mur Oti. In that film two androgynous beings stage a physically impossible passion, illustrated by heavily erotic and sadistic images. Helped by historical circumstances, the ability of the director Mur Oti and producer Cesáreo González managed to get the approval of censorship to exhibit the film.
