Abstract

This article is about the development of audience studies in Iberoamerica (Latin America, Portugal and Spain). First, a review on the research lines is described. Secondly, the text analyses the constitution of audience research as an academic field within communication studies. The purpose of this article is to stress the need of addressing the contexts of research production from a situated and critical point of view.
