Abstract

Political cartoons published by daily press represent a relatively disattended field by Communication Studies, in spite of its popularity and relevance. This article focuses on the image of women transmitted by those cartoons during Spanish transition to democracy. At this chronological point political vindications of democracy and autonomy coincided with a certain uprise of feminist movement after Franco's dictatorship. In order to achieve relevant conclusions, cartoons published by five diaries have been selected, according to circulation and political representativeness.
