Abstract

The experiences of citizens' digital journalism clearly reveal the depth of the effects that the new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are having on the essence of social communication. Nobody would now deny that these effects are verifiable symptoms of a theoretical framework based on the new communications paradigms, which pose conceptual redefinitions in journalistic communication and in the social mediation exercised up until now by journalists. With this perspective, the GEAC (Grupo de Estudios Avanzados de Comunicación – Advanced Communication Studies Group) is at present directing part of its research potential to the study of the incidence of the new interactive resources – especially those that favour audience participation – in the editorial offices of on-line media and in the contents that they publish.
