Abstract
Courtesy is expressed in a series of principles that different authors (Lakoff, Leech, Brown and Levinson) have proposed in order to explain the functioning of the mechanisms of our communicative exchanges. On the other hand, advertising develops in a specific society, whose values and customs reflect, and are also reflected in, these mechanisms of courtesy.
