Abstract

Nowadays, television is moving in different parameters, given that in the past fifteen years it had been centralized and monopolized. The development of this media has been very important with respect to technology, emission areas, programming, financing and property and management. The creation of proximity television is another exponent of that development. Therefore, under the name of local television a new phenomenon has started and under the same name has increased in the last years, although the spirit from the start to now has changed. In the south of the Basque Country there are 51 local television stations and in this article, apart from giving a general view of the current situation, we will see which are the common elements and the differences between them.
