Abstract

During the last decade Spanish Television experimented an outstanding situation. For the first time -from years 1995 to 2000-, Spanish audience supported massively Spanish TV series above any other productions and concepts. The effects of that situation are still alive. This analysis reaches a theoretical formula of this breakthrough that has spread to all four areas of making television: production, concept, broadcasting and audience behaviour. Investigating the case of successful Spanish TV series produced by the same factory (Médico de Familia, Menudo es mi padre, Compañeros and Periodistas), this study analyses the evolution of these four areas. It starts from a format historical review, and follows with the analysis of audience behaviour and message. All set in the industrial production frame.
