Abstract

After several attempts to succeed, interactive television (iTV) is trying a new launching in several countries, in the new context created by the convergence between audiovisual media and the Internet. In the last few decades, iTV has been through several trials and tests, most of which became commercial failures. Nevertheless its experience provides some valuable information to analyse the future trends of this new medium. This work focuses on some of the main challenges iTV will have to face, considering them on the light of its own history.
