Abstract

This article goes about the question of the author; more precisely it pretends to stablish the theoritical basis of the cinematographic author's idea. In this search the usual criterion evocated for this matter is eliminated for imprecedent and tries to retake the debate to the field of discourse. Thus enfocated, the theme of author would come to a question of number (a catalogue more or less wide of themes and formal elections), repetition (of those themes and figures) and rythm. John Ford and his film The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance helps to make clear these aspects.
