Orígenes y desarrollo del satélite en España: la realidad del sistema Hispasat

Abstract

The main goal of this article is to describe the origin and development of the Spanish satellite, especially the Hispasat system. The beginings of television in Spain is briefly analysed, from public and regional televisions to the most recent audiovisual model, the digital television. The private channels and cable televisions are also mentioned. This research is based on a situation analysis, and it is an abridged version of the author's doctoral thesis: The satellite television in Spain: the Hispasat project.
