Abstract

This article examines the use of sources in free daily press versus the paid press. We have carried out a quantitative content analysis of two weeks (7150 news items in total). We analysed the major newspapers of both types of media. The results show that the free press doesn't include any source in more than 50% of its news items and the called quality press studied (paid press) do the same in more than a third of its news.
