Abstract

In France, as in other European countries, precarious employment has seen an intense development. Fixed-term contracts, internship postings, part-time jobs, and seasonal work constitute the fate of a not insignificant part of the active population; a large part of wage-earners suffer it and they do, in fact, ask to work more and more regularly. It is a phenomenon too widely known to be ignored here, despite the debate between those who insist that precariousness can be managed, even appreciated and experienced as a minor setback, and those who point to the immense difficulties that workers must face as a result of such precariousness.
