Abstract

This text responds to the invitation to think based on the concept of inclination that philosopher Adriana Cavarero places at the centre of contemporary reflection, in dialogue with authors of extraordinary significance such as Judith Butler. The main objective of the article is to inquire the sociological dimensions of contemporary art through the analysis of the figures of mediation and care. This is accomplished through the display of potential channelings of the sociology of contemporary art, concerned with the ways of making and producing, promoting and sustaining art and knowledge. Today, the notion of mediation has acquired centrality in the world of art, recognizing a saturation of its uses and a polysemy in its meanings, due to it being among the most relevant concepts in contemporary social theory. Care has also become central when addressing different ways of doing, both in the art world and in knowledge practices. Thus, this article proposes a sociological analysis of contemporary art that provides a display of care in art through mediation.
