Abstract

These fragments, by way of a biographical exploration, deals with the condition of estrangement
that comes a s a product of multiple forms of exile and the impact its on an academic itinerary.
The question that addresses is simple: in the face of socialist utopias' failures, where intellectual
works used to have an emancipatory nature, what is the role of academics in todays universities
where marketization of knowledge is at the order of the day?
