In these last years, following the Principles and Parameters Theory (Chomsky 1981) an INFL multiple syntax head nature has been proposed (Chomsky 1989, Pollock 1989), separating the structures of the different agreements and tense. Referring to the Basque language Laka (1988b), Oyharçabal (1992) have also proposed different heads, among others, three different kinds of agreement and tense. On the other hand, it has also been said that the hierarchic order of all the functional categories can be different depending on the language (Iatridou 1990, Ouhalla 1992). On this basis, along our work we'll show the development of the acquisition of the functional categories INFL & COMP by a monolingual Basque child. We'll see that the acquisition is gradual, for after a presyntactic period (Bickerton 1991), and through different steps, different kinds of agreement, tense and the characteristics of the functional category COMP are used. Besides, we'll see the appearance of the negative forms, aspect and mood. Finally, we'll deal with the gradation of the different steps we find throughout the language acquisition, because this gradation may show us the hierarchic structure of the Basque sentence (Meisel 1994a).
