Abstract
The renpelating of the argument about the defensive reduction of the hours of work cannot hide or dissipate the deep root of the labour relationships: an unequal and changealle relationship. Through the history, workers have tried to retain the control of work, including the hours of work, its ways, its wage equivalent...
The time reductions summarized in the "three eights" were actively supported in the hypothesis of a more workable emancipation of the workers by the culture. In fact, it was proved that the no work time has not have to he ruled by the mercantile guideline and, especially, that any change produced in this time creates new relationships and social habits, no necessarily controlled by "the under-privileged". The reduction of hours of work nowadays, being a positive and jointhy shared speech, cans coutrubute to reinforce, by the liberation of rules, of the control that the employer bears over the work (and even time), making the worker more dependent and less automomons.
