Abstract

The coming of age of the young people who leave the residential care of the child and
adolescent protection system is a crucial moment, since they go from total protection to a situation of
high vulnerability. The aim of this study is to know in their own words the transition to adult life of
young people who leave the Gipuzkoan residences. For this, a qualitative methodology has been used,
specifically through semi-structured interviews with eight young people. The results describe the transition
itself and the different dimensions of their life, such as the residential situation, the academic and
professional sphere, the social network and well-being, among others.
