Islamari buruz ikonoen bidez zabaldutako mezuak, euskarazko testuliburuetan

Abstract

This research is an attempt to approach to some messages about islam which are transmitted through iconic means in Basque textbooks written in the last decade. These textbooks belong to the last cicle of primary education and the first cicle of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education). The essay is an approach to islam from a wide perspective and there are nine important thematic fields which need a more detailed studying. The work focuses on the iconic expression which appears in textbooks and which is increasing both quantitative and qualitatively, not only in them, but also in society. This work owes much of its essence to a previos plurilingual composition about the idea of islam which is transmitted in textbooks written in Basque, Galician, Catalan and Spanish languages (El islam en las aulas: Contenidos, silencios, enseñanza, published by Icaria in 1997). That composition focused on the textual part and it payed no attention to the iconic part, obviously not because of lack of interest, but because of the fact that it exceeded the first objectives proposed by the team.
