Abstract
Developing good autonomy is important because it directly affects how well or badly you treat yourself and others. In some contexts, which we could define as high vulnerability contexts, children have serious difficulties attaining emotional, social and intellectually autonomy. Assessing the main dimensions and areas of difficulty, based on contributions from psychological and educational literature, can help to tackle intervention. The main indicators are analysed for each of the dimensions: firstly, social-emotional maladjustment and, more specifically, building links, self-esteem and defence mechanisms; secondly, uncontrolled and violent impulsive behaviour, towards others or themselves; thirdly, blocking cognitive processes. Finally, an allusion is made to risk indicators in children and adolescents who, whilst not living in high vulnerability contexts, develop behaviour which can lead to social adaptation problems.
