Abstract

The article analyses access to school management in public infant, primary and secondary schools in the Basque Country. The research, carried out in collaboration with 144 head teachers, makes a critical and compared assessment of the situation of management teams after the promulgation of the Organic Education Law (LOE, 2006). Among other aspects, it reflects on the selection procedure laid down in the law, the lack of candidates, constitution and cohesion of the Management Team, difficulties involved in doing the job and aspects linked to training aspiring candidates in public school management. Finally, some conclusions derived from the research are explained in further detail.
