Abstract

This work presents a line of psychoeducational research based on cooperative games whose aim is to promote socio-emotional development and children's creativity. The proposal comprises three programmes, one for each stage of primary education, and each programme contains 80 to 110 games. The games are classified in two broad categories, «prosocial behavior», which includes communication-cohesion games, help-trust games and cooperative games, and «cooperative creativity», which includes games of verbal, graphic, constructive and dramatic creativity. These programmes have been validated experimentally, with comparisons of their effects in numerous experimental and control groups. Successive studies have shown these programmes to stimulate an increase in prosocial behaviors and a decrease in aggressive and antisocial behaviors. Moreover, they increased self-concept, emotional stability, intelligence and creativity. This work presents the theoretical bases of the programmes and describes their objectives and characteristics, the procedure for their application to a group, the assessment instruments for measuring their effects and the results obtained in the successive experimental studies carried out with them.
