Abstract
The purpose of this article is to create open debate about the support services within educational centres, and thus to be able to articulate a series of reflections and conclusions in respect of this subject so that the service be able to respond to pupil diversity. In this way, a summary of the models of support services for the centres is presented. Later a detailed service proposal is presented in order to be able to respond to the diversity in educational centres and, in this way, an analysis is made of the organisation and the forms of intervention. The first section, concerned with the importance of context and the educational project of the centre, presents a series of ideas for reflection. In the second, the role of the professionals working in the support units is approached, and the tasks and skills which should be developed.
