Abstract

The mass media are a rich source of symbolic resources with which adolescents interact in the elaboration of their own identity. They make use of an ensemble of media texts, attractive to both boys and girls, that they use as a type of tool kit for negotiating youth identity. These are thriller and horror products and television contents such as series and talk shows. All in all, that multiplicity of resources and sources, which makes up their mediated experience, casts suspicion on the idea of a stable I and of a single identity.
