Abstract
The implantation of Terrestrial Digital Television has not been easy in Spain, Great Britain and especially Portugal, basically due to the early failures of the platforms using this technology that were promoted in the three countries: Quiero TV, ITV Digital and Plataforma de Televisão Digital Terrestre. The first two projects collapsed financially, while the third did not even manage to start broadcasting due to its dubious profitability. However, the way in which each country faced up to the failures was different and those decisions have subsequently brought a different development of the migration from the analogue to digital systems in each of them. This article outlines some aspects of this process in Spain and Great Britain, but, above all, it analyses the continuing lack of definition in terrestrial digital television in Portugal today, not only from the point of view of regulations but also from the perspective of the communication groups.
