Abstract
3G technology contributes a new field for the diffusion of audio-visual messages that the principal operators of Spain have begun to develop in agreement with television companies. News, fiction, sports or music are offered for visualisation on mobile operative terminals using this technology. Nevertheless, as occurs in the early days of any form of communication, all that is in fact taking place is a transfer of the same formats and contents from the television to the new media. Logically (and to the disappointment of consumers) this is something that requires rethinking towards different formats appropriate to the new media, since the technical and physical peculiarities of the 3G mobile terminal are demonstrating that communicative efficiency is being lost in the attempt. This article offers a review of the problem, and an enumeration of the formal considerations which - because of technical imposition on occasions, or because of the experience of frustration generated in the consumer by the above mentioned contents - must orientate the production of these contents in the search for greater communicative efficiency.
