Abstract

Since the decision of the current Basque Government to persecute the  encouragement of terrorism or any expression legitimating it in the streets of the Basque Country, and face to protests and resistances provoked by this decision, we'll cover decisive moments of that fight for the public space. We will try to localise the symbolic value of that "battles" attending to a diachronic focus that will allow us to establish comparisons between the most recent examples provoked by the effective application of the law and some previous cases where a civic movement of collective expression of repulse of ETA's violence started to emerge. The idea is to bring together in a single movement, different moments of public manifestation around the reality of ETA's terrorism (against, as well as support) attending to the meanings that call around the so called public sphere and the freedom of speech. In this contrast, we will be able to perceive the sign that could become the present to its portrait in the ungovernable memory of those who will come.
