Abstract
The various volumes of the "Fuentes Documentales Medievales del País Vasco" (Eusko Ikaskuntza, San Sebastián) allow us to study the written material corresponding to Low-medieval Basque villages. In this article, we will analyze the presence of Basque common words (leaving aside Basque toponimy and personal names) in the documents of the village of Segura (1290-1450). We are particularly interesed in looking at the use frecuency of this type of words, their contexts and the way in which they get inserted in the Romance world. We will often appeal to the comparison with what is already known with regard to the Navarrian Middle Age documents, in order to evaluate whether the scribans are aware ahout the different linguistic systems involved.
