Abstract
Many topics have been spread, incorrectly, on the order of words in the Basque language. There is nothing better in order to avoid them than basic descriptive work. The author approaches this field, examining the original classic prose in Basque (Axular, Mogel, Agirre, Duvoisin, Etxepare), and spontaneous verbal language: that from the 19th century (story collections compiled by Webster and Cerquand) and that corresponding to the speakers and speech of the end of the 20th century. The author has examined both principal phrases, trying to find out the position occupied by the verb and the queried element or kernel of the predicate, and the subordinate phrases, including the relative phrases in a special section, and also noting the position occupied by the verb. The results are most interesting.
