Abstract
This article analyses the mobility of veteran legionaries during the Principate, more particularly it focuses on the places to which they retired and the reasons for such a choice. Special attention is paid to ex-soldiers who, in contrast to most of their fellow-combatants, chose to settle in places other than those where they had served.
