Abstract
This article reflects on the origins of the sequence of names « C. Iulius C.f. » in the province of Citerior. For a long time, these names were understood as a witness of the survival of clientelae in the Peninsula during the imperial period starting from Julius Caesar and Augustus. The author lists the C. Iulii according to their tribe (or lack thereof), which in certain cases can serve as a chronological and a geographical marker. The association between these names and the tribe Quirina, with no connections with Augustus, begs the questions as to the posterity of these names.
