Abstract

An unknown depiction of a bison at El Pindal cave (eastern coast of Asturias) is presented in this paper. It is not just a drawn or engraved figure on the wall surface, but a natural outcrop on which the magdalenian artist engraved some precise anatomical details (eye, horns and beard), turning the natural formation into a bison head.
