Abstract

This article considers the behaviour of the North-African immigrant community in Catalonia with regard to available media and cultural products. It is based on an analysis of statistical data from the Media and Culture Barometer (FUNDACC) and proprietary qualitative research from in-depth interviews. The main conclusion drawn from this study, which is funded by the Government of Catalonia, is that this group's involvement in media, intellectual and artistic context is minimal; when this group does get involved, however, the study shows that there is a significant degree of interest in forthcoming products of the new setting of co-existence.
