Abstract

Considering the strategic role that «Information and Communication Technologies" (ICT) play these days, it is important to operationalize this concept. Rather than looking for a uniform concept, the goal of this paper is to analyze this term from an academic perspective. Since there is no unique definition of ICT, this study provides a benchmarking collecting, analyzing and ranking the main definition of this term. Finally, this study proposes a definition of ICT as well as a methodology of analysis that can be implemented in successive research and a conceptual proposal of how to develop digital competencies.
