Abstract
As a result of the growth of the networks of users (P2P technology), the Internet is becoming a new driver of the music creation. This fact brings about the distribution fragmentation of the value and agent chain within the music industry. The article analyses the functioning of the P2P networks as well as the nature of the change set up by these networks in the mentioned area. More precisely, the digital providers of music are identified; some of them are already present in the off line music distribution while some others are completely new to the industry profiting from the intense overlap and some adjacent industries. Furthermore, it is also considered the key factors handled by different digital providers to deploy their strategies within this field. Finally, they have been weight up several implications for the online music landscape by fixing a reference price of 0.99 € cents per song.
