Abstract
The most important concepts regarding precision when designing, building and setup of the machine tools are discussed. Therefore, in the present article, the most important design principles when developing a machine tool are explained. Besides, the most common method used nowadays for quantifying the uncertainty in machine tools is detailed: the error budged. Moreover, the principles required for a proper design are described. Finally, the most important global standards for measuring the precision of a machine tool are reviewed.
