Abstract
Loneliness is a subjective feeling derived from the loss of social roles or the lack of a general attachment figure and can manifest itself at any time in life. Frailty is a dynamic situation that affects a person with losses in one or more areas of human functioning (physical, psychological, social) caused by different variables and that increases the risk of adverse health outcomes. With the approval of the Human Research Ethics Committee of the University of the Basque Country, a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out to analyse the relationship between feeling of loneliness and frailty in 272 women and men living in nursing homes and in the community. SPSS 27.0 software was used for statistical analysis of the data collected at each session. Feelings of loneliness were associated with greater multidimensional frailty in older people, with women standing out in all dimensions. In men, loneliness was associated with social frailty in nursing home residents and physical frailty in community dwellers.
