Abstract

Due to current manufacturing challenges, industrial automation systems control software is becoming increasingly complex. This work focuses on the construction of encapsulated control units for the workstations of production systems. These software components are built according to the MeiA 4.0 methodology. This methodology follows the standards of software engineering and automation engineering. The component architecture has two information models that organize the status of the working unit, its connections to the environment and the status of the control software. These models facilitate interoperability with other components and integration with the strategic levels of the company. The component is implemented in an automation project, according to IEC 61131-3 standard, and validated with the functional twin incorporated into the component itself. As a practical case, the development of the component that controls a workstation of a piece assembly cell is presented.
