Abstract

The outsourcing of services permits the firm's resources and capabilities to be improved by achieving better quality services and a better performance and so focus on their main business or core competences. This article deals with hotel sector manager´s perceptions of the influence of outsourcing on the operations strategy, and particularly on the objectives of operations such as cost reduction related, improved quality, flexibility and better service. The study shows that managers consider that outsourcing has great potential to exert an influence, not only on cost reduction, but also on other objectives of operations strategy, thus giving outsourcing a more strategic nature.
